Snowshoe by the Falls

Snowshoe Kawartha, is  organizing Fenelon’s newest winter event, the Fenelon Falls Winter Festival held the first Saturday in February.

The 2020 Winter Festival date is Saturday, February 1st.

Snowshoeing is the perfect winter recreational activity, it is a wonderful family event because you can experience the solitude of the great outdoors and the benefits of exercise. Snowshoeing is safer than many winter sports and “If You Can Walk, You Can Snowshoe” it is entirely human powered and much fun in groups.

Fenelon Falls hosts the Ontario Cup Series again this year and our stellar Forest tract  will once again host the Provincial Championship. Our snowshoe program is sanctioned by Snowshoe Canada, delivering the best course and the best post race party in the series.

Snowshoe Kawartha’s Winter Festival and 5K / 10K Ontario Cup Snowshoe Race in Fenelon Falls, Ontario is back and better than ever Provincial Championship on February 1st, 2019!

The purpose of this annual event is to provide an opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to experience the winter months in the Kawartha Lakes region. This will help create enhanced tourism benefits and will pave the way for a bigger and better winter festival in Fenelon Falls.

Our events has enjoyed the support of the City of Kawartha Lakes Economic Development, CKL Councillor Doug Elmslie, and the Kawartha Works Community Co-op.

Our success would not have been possible without our sponsors and supporters and we are pleased to thank; Fenelon Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Fenelon Falls Home Hardware, Lions Club of Fenelon Falls, Kawartha Lakes Snowmobile Club, Log Chateau, Province of Ontario EMS Services, Rockwood Forest Nurseries, Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls, Snowshoe Canada, Sweet Bottoms Coffee and Young’s Construction.

Snowshoe Racing is one of the fastest growing winter sports in the world with many races being staged in Ontario, across Canada and internationally each year. Our success in Fenelon Falls and our growth across the region would not be possible without the many dedicated volunteers who have helped us organize and manage the numerous activities and importantly through their efforts improve the safety of our festival.

The Fenelon event is designed for all levels of participants from beginner to expert. Whether you are experienced or an old hand you are sure to have fun. This year we are organizing the WORLD RECORD for Elementary School Kids and a 5k / 10k Ontario Cup, to make Saturday, Feb 1st a larger family event. New activities are planned to augment the Winter Safety Demonstrations held in 2019.

The Ontario Cup event is sanctioned by Snowshoe Canada, the governing body for Snowshoe racing in Canada.
