Get your winter gear ready for Saturday, February 3rd. A full day of winter fun has sprung up around the excitement of a WINTER FESTIVAL, organized by Snowshoe Kawartha and to be held in Fenelon Falls. This race is the first stop in the Ontario Cup Series and the community of Fenelon Falls has most definitely embraced the spirIt of the games.
Rooted in the First Nation tradition of a love of the outdoors and of experiencing the cultural and aesthetic beauty of winter, the day will feature lots of fun family recreation and sports programming. Along with the 5k and 10k snowshoe races, there will be a .5k / 1k Elementary School World Record snowshoe event, a guest historian to share a story of Fenelon’s past, an open-to-all game of crokicurl, fat tire bike demonstrations and tour and an ice fishing demonstration for families on Cameron Lake.
Snowshoe Kawartha is especially proud to introduce the “Spirit of Snowshoeing” trophy, sponsored by the Fenelon Falls Rotary Club, which will be awarded to the volunteer who best represents the spirit of the Snowshoe Kawartha team.
