Snowshoe Kawartha, formed in early 2017 is the organizing team for Fenelon’s newest winter festival held the first Saturday in February. This year’s festival date is Saturday, February 3rd. And 2018 features a new “World Record Event for Elementary Schools” across the province.
Snowshoeing is the perfect winter recreational activity, it is a wonderful family event because you can experience the solitude of the great outdoors and benefit from the exercise. Snowshoeing is perhaps safer than many other winter sports because it is fun, human powered and more fun in groups.
Fenelon Falls hosts the first race in the Snowshoe Canada Ontario Cup Series again this year. Our inaugural year (2017) allowed the development of what has become recognized as the best course and the best food in the series. Snowshoe Kawartha brings back the popular Ice Fishing event and this year (2018) brings two new sports to the festival with Crokicurl and FAT Tire Bikes.

The success of 2017 and 2018 is also thanks to our sponsors and supporters and we are pleased to thank; Bruce’s Tackle Box, Home Hardware, Lions Club of Fenelon Falls, Kawartha Lakes Snowmobile Club, Log Chateau, Rockwood Forest Nurseries, Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls, Snowshoe Canada, Sweet Bottoms Coffee and Young’s Construction.
Snowshoe Racing is one of the fastest growing winter sports in the world with many races being staged in Europe, the USA and around the globe each year. But our success and our growth would not be possible without the many dedicated volunteers who have helped Snowshoe Kawartha organize and manage the numerous activities and importantly through their efforts improve the safety of our festival.
The Fenelon event will be designed for all levels of participants from beginner to expert. Whether you are an experienced Curler or an old hand at ice fishing you are sure to have fun. This year we are organizing a WORLD RECORD for Elementary School Kids. A special .5k / 1K distance event for the kids, and a 5k / 10k Ontario Cup, make Saturday, Feb 3rd, a true family event.
The Ontario Cup event is managed and sanctioned by Snowshoe Canada, the governing body for Snowshoe racing in Canada.
